Use of online social media in connecting with students

With the use of online social media tools such as Facebook, Youtube and Tweeter gaining popularity, especially among young people, a group of lecturers and staff from Learning Academy initiated the study on the use of such tools among students in Temasek Polytechnic.

A collaborative small scale study was conducted in TP at the end of 2009, to explore various ways of connecting lecturers with students by tapping into the power of online social media. The study involved interviewing lecturers and groups of students, both junior and senior, on their use of online social media, both inside and outside of classrooms.
